The hellfolk thought he was alone in pitch dark. However, his shouts were heard, and he was no longer alone.

A cold hand touched his, and slip up his arm. It was small and feminine, but he could not see who was responsible.

There was no light shining at all. The hand crept up higher... Then stopped. The hand was taken off, and Ecks felt chills as his arm beaded up with goosebumps.

He could hear shallow breathing to the right of him a fair distance away. A candle flickered on, next to a set of stairs leading up and to a door.

The cold hand touched Ecks.

"AHH! ECKS NOT AFRAID! ECKS NOT AFRAID! PLEEEEZE DON'T HURT ECKS!" the crazed hellfolk pleaded.

A candle lit up a stairwell.

"ECKS COMING PRETTY LADY! ECKS COMING!!!" he screamed running up the stairs in fear.

Up the stairs, Ecks ran. The door opened easily to his touch. On the other side, he walked into a kitchen. A stove, shelves with old, rotten food, and a table in the middle of the room were all he could see. Large windows allowed the moon to cast its light inside, glistening off of knives and cooking utensils.

******

Vadim made it down the stairs to the Manor's entrance. There on the floor was the red headed woman. She wasn't awake, but her breathing was regular.

Down the hall, past the stairs, on the first floor: the study, where Livvy stood with a large black book at her feet.

Vadim looked at Amber, he knelt down and checked her pulse. At any other time he would have helped her but she seemed comfortable. Vadim could see his breath in the air but he was warm? He took off his coat and set it under her head for a pillow.

He then stood, he tried to shadow jump outside of the manor to see if he still felt the same, but when he did so he felt a sharp pain in his chest. He snake hissed.

He then looked out the window and just around the room this whole place was odd. He heard stories of ghosts and haunted houses as a child, but surly that couldn't be true.

But then again....if there was a such thing as a haunted house, or a manor?

Vadim looked down at his snake as it slithered.

"Strange indeed my little friend," Vadim said as he looked around once more, unsure of where to go or what to do.

Ecks wandered into the kitchen. Something wasn't right. Ecks spoke and tried to not draw attention to himself....

Livvy stood in the empty room staring at the book before her. She looked up the staircase and outside to double check that nobody was around. The quiet was so eerie, all she wanted to do was leave.

An incredible urge, gut feeling, instinct, whatever it was called, resinated in every cell of her body. It willed her to bend down and take the dusty, leather bound book. It even smelled like dusty old leather.

Livvy bent down and as her fingertip touched the book, her mind went blank.

***

The next thing Livvy realized was lying on the cold, wooden floor of the room. Outside, the waves were crashing more violently against the rocks. The sounds echoed through the empty room. The only other sound was her breathing.

Next to her body, the leather book was opened to an empty page, only a quarter of the way through. She crawled from her fetal position on the floor onto her wobbly legs.

Once she was able to stand without worrying about falling, she bent down slowly, hesitantly to pick up the book. It was cool and heavier than it looked.

From outside, a shriek caught Livvy's attention.

Amber awoke with a deep gasp for air. She breathed heavily at first, but eventually she calmed herself. She sat up looking around. The cold and still entrance was discomforting.

She looked up at Vadim, but for the most part ignored him. He couldn't do anything for her that she couldn't do herself. She steadily rose, and stood on her own.

Amber turned and looked down the hall that lead to the study. The stairs were there in the entry way, and to the right of them, through some rooms, they could hear the hellfolk screaming about not drawing attention to himself.

"I think I picked the wrong idiots," said Amber.

Outside, the Manor, on the grounds, a loud and ear-piercing scream could be heard. Something was running outside, around the Manor. It was searching for a way it. It started near the study and despite the large windows, Livvy had no idea what it was.

The creature seemed to be able to circle the mansion quickly. It had the speed and size of some sort of horse. Finally, it seemed to slow down around the kitchen...

Ecks wandered around the kitchen for a moment. Then decided to look for something to eat. He beganbanging through cabinents knocking pots and pans and cooking utensils down all over the floor.

BA-DANG!

KER-ANG!

KUH-LANG!

Ecks stood there for a moment looking at the cook where. All was silent. He stared around the room slightly creeped out.

He pointed at the cookware scattered all over on the floor.

"ECKS NOT DO THAT!!!"

Vadim was very unsure of this place, at this point he was ready to get the hell out of this haunted manor. And find Acetaus Nimius on his own.

He looked over at Amber.

"You didn't tell me I would be locked inside a rather odd house," he spoke to her his voice was that of someone who was well educated.

Vadim looked around again, he shivered he was cold.

"I really dont want to be here right now," he said to her again.

Goosebumps spread across Livvy's skin as she heard the scream. As she peaked from the broken window, she caught the glimpse of something passing by the opening. As she strained her eyes to see better, she saw it pass the next window, then the next and pretty soon, it was back to the open window.

Instantly her concern was for Katene, who was still attached to the tree outside. It was unlikely that anything would attack an undead, chained to a tree...but then again, he was a sitting duck.

"I have to get outside," she whimpered, taking a step towards the window.

As she did, the shadow once again swept across the opening and on around the manor again. It was so quick, there was no possible way she could get out and away before it saw her...unless it already had.

A cold shiver ran down her spine.

She froze, unconciously clutching her hand on the book in her hand. Her heart began to pound against her chest and sweat began to pool on her forehead.

Forcing herself to move, she took a step backwards and then began walking up the stairs. At least from there, she could hopefully see what was happening outside.

Livvy was half way up the stairway when another blood-curdling scream came from just outside the manor. She dashed up the rest of the stairs to the first door, to the closest window and peaked outside...

In the kitchen, the pots and pans stopped making noise. Ecks couldn't hear much. The sounds of large feet continued to move around. It focused on the windows near the kitchen.

The windows filled with steam, making it almost impossible to see what was going on. The moon light cast a blue glow on the windows. Whatever was outside, was peering in through the kitchen windows at Ecks...

*****

Amber and Vadim were at the entrance still. Pounding came at the door- Amber halted Vadim from moving to open it. A small voice came from the otherside, frantic and desperate.

"Please, Lady Stone, I saw you come home! Please, let me in!"

It was a woman's voice- a servant that Amber knew well. Still, she did not open the door, nor did she allow Vadim to.

The woman started banging harder and pleads were more hurried. Still... Amber did not budge...

She turned to say something to Vadim when she saw an elf woman come and dart up the stairs. In the girl's hand... a book. Amber started to follow the elf...

*****

The monster's breathing could be heard at the kitchen window, still fogging up the windows. Ecks was alone in the dark kitchen faced with the monster... then the faint noise of something calling for help... and banging on a door.

The beast noticed as well. It abandoned the glass, and sprinted to the corner of the house, and made its way towards the front of the Manor. Where the woman was crying out for sanctuary.

The woman was getting no where. The only thing else to do was hide. She quickly took shelter in the carriage that brought Ecks, Amber, and Vadim here.

She sat in there quivering. She heard, and almost felt every step the large beast took. Approaching the carriage. There were no windows... she couldn't see.

*****

Livvy started up the stairs to the second floor, with Amber coming from behind.

Amber slowly approached Livvy... cautious, and careful. The elf was near a bedroom with a large room...

The moon's glow shined into the large bedroom from a bay window. This was once Amber's bedroom. Livvy wandered to the window, wanting to see where the beast outside was, and what it was...

Amber was at the doorway of the bedroom, sneaking in... not daring to breath too loudly....

There was a loud shriek... both turned towards outside the Manor... towards the bay window... towards where the carriage was... was...

Everything was still...

Ecks was alone in the kitchen, nothing was at the windows.

Vadim stood alone in the entry way, where he went was his choice.

Amber and Livvy stood in the bedroom, one next to a bay window, the other at the doorway.

***CRASH***

The ceiling in the bedroom collapsed, and the carriage crashed into the bedroom, almost breaking through the second floor bedroom... There, upstairs, in the bedroom, Livvy and Amber were separated by the carriage.

The carriage was on its side... being cradled by the Manor's roof and the bedroom's ceiling. The door opened, and a body tumbled out...

*****

Ecks, in the kitchen, took a step backwards, and felt something bump into him. It swayed at his touch: a rotting corpse hanging by a noose, tied to the rafters.

"GAHHHHH!!!!!" Ecks screamed leaping onto the hanging corpse and wrapping himself around its legs. He quickly pulled out a dagger with one hand and started stabbing the corpse in the leg over and over and over and over. Then he bit the leg of corpse and fell off to the kitchen floor onto his back.

"ECKS KILL YOU ALL!!! KILL YOU!!!!"

He jumped up and began stabbing the swinging corpse in the leg again over and over, biting at it, clawing at it, spitting on it, making faces at it over and over and over.

"ECKS NOT AFRAID! NOT AFRAID!!!!!"

Suddenly, the corpse kicked. Hard. Into Ecks's nose.

The corpse remained suspended above the ground... it was feminine, but most of her features had decayed. She reached for Ecks. Not like a zombie reaches for prey... but rather like someone reaching for help.

The rope snapped, and she fell onto him. He landed on the kitchen floor, with her on top of him, staring at him. Her hands moving up his body towards his face... She never spoke, never could...

The woman's hands slowly reached for Ecks face while she lay on top of him.

"GAAAHHHH!!!!! ECKS NOT LOVE YOU BACK! ECKS KILL YOU!!!!!" The hellfolk screamed reaching up and biting her on the nose. His teeth sunk and ripped her nose clean off of her face. He then rolled her over and used his dagger to stab here in the face over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

"ECKS BITE YOUR NOSE! ECKS TEETH SINK IN AND RIP YOUR NOSE CLEAN OFF YOUR FACE! ECKS ROLL YOU OVER AND USE DAGGER TO STAB YOU IN FACE LOTS AND BUNCHY BUNCHES!!!! GRAHHHHH!!!!!"

Livvy stood in the bedroom stunned at everything. A carriage had just crashed into it and now, there was a red-head standing across from her.

Every hair on Livvy's body stood up and then...

"What the," she mumbled, peaking at the book in her hand.

It was slightly vibrating, just enough to make her notice. It almost tickled.

She looked back to the redhead, then at the book. Livvy opened it to the first page with writing.

Those who wish to survive my make a leap of faith.

For a moment, Livvy was unsure of what it meant, or even if it applied to reality. Everything that seemed to be reality was now a nightmare, and anything that seemed to be a nightmare, was reality.

With a sigh, Livvy crawled into the window and took that leap of faith.

Vadim was surprised at the whole mess. He was a smart man and education told him there were no ghost's. He saw Ecks in the kicthen scrambling around, more then that he heard him.

He stood there watching the women go up the stairs.

"IM NOT FRAID OF NO GHOSTS!" he shouted. but he was.

He was just ready to go home, this place was the most disturbing thing since the rise of the undead. Vadim saw a large shadow creep across the room.

"Fuck,"

"DON'T!" screamed Amber.

With the carriage in her way, she couldn't move quickly at all. Livvy disappeared out the window...

Livvy was up on the second story of a large Manor. The drop was far, and it was indeed a leap of faith. If she managed to land without injuring herself... that beast could still be out there.

However, immediately as she hopped out of the window, she fell into several pairs of arms... They seeped out of the ground, stretching high up to the window. They lowered calmly and gently. Livvy was soon on the grounds. The beast that was prowling around the Manor was gone... There were markings in the ground of where the carriage was minutes ago.

Amber cursed... she needed that book! She wasn't sure what was going on, but she knew the book was involved.

"VADIM, ECKS! YOU WANT YOUR PAYMENT? GET THAT ELF!"

Amber left the bedroom and started down the stairs where Vadim was...

Shadows... several of them were circling Vadim... Amber hurried down and grabbed Vadim by the arm. She opened the door to the outside, and literally threw the man out.

"Get that girl, or you'll never live to join Acaetus Nimius!" she slammed the door.

"ECKS! You little twerp, I need you!" Amber started roaming the Manor calling for Ecks...

****

Livvy heard a voice coming from the book...

"Run... to the coast... Hurry..."

Livvy was already headed towards the coast when she heard something that sounded like, "Run...to the coast...Hurry."

She wasn't sure if she sould do what the voice said, or if it was a trick.

She dashed through the trees hearing cries through the forest and yelling from the manor. It was absolutely terrifying and all she could do, was keep moving.

"Katene," she sighed, reaching the tree she had tied him to. After being apart for so long, he instantly tried to attack her, and she thumped him to get him to stop.

Livvy flipped open the book to the next empty page, watching as a new order was written:

Trickery or not, the answer is along the coast.

With a sigh and her mind swirling, Livvy grabbed Katene's chain leash and drug him towards the coast. They made their way down the rocks and towards the beach.

Ecks ran out of the kitchen into a long hallway.

"ECKS NOT SEE ELF! ECKS NOT SEE YOU! ECKS NOT SEE ECKS!

Ecks than looked at his hands.

"ECKS SEE ECKS NOW!"

He continued down the hall, alone.

Along the beach, Livvy found her way to the side of a cliff. Winds could be heard howling from the rocks. A large cave entrance was wet with the tide rushing in. The water came in and out of the entrance, not going very far.

A cold breeze came out, blowing the elf's hair. A raspy voice could be heard inside, but so clear. It was a familiar voice... one that also came from the book.

"Please... The book you have; I need it... I'm at the back of the cave. Look for the torches."

************

Vadim was in the entryway with Amber as the shadows formed into a shape. It was obscure; just a blur of darkness. It had no mass, but it grabbed Vadim and carried him off into a wall. Amber was alone in the Manor's entryway... Vadim was gone... the shadow was gone...

"ECKS!" she called. She fled from the entry room heading to the east wing hallway.

Amber heard the loudmouth and started to roam the Manor trying to find him. Something was wrong though... This wasn't the home she remembered. It was warped and changed.

Ecks wandered down the hallway, but couldn't find any doors. He couldn't find any way out either. But the hallway was long... too long for the size of the manor. It just stretched on. Candelabras on the wall were lit with a fire, though the house had been abandoned for years. The only noise was Ecks's own voice and his own noises. He couldn't hear anything outside, or anything in the hallway.

************

Vadim found himself in a small room. The doors were shut, and likely "stuck" like the one in the bedroom he entered. A dead zombie was laying next to him, it's skull smashed open, and the contents spilling out. The zombie's arm was draped over Vadim, in an embrace. They were on a bed together... The shadow was gone.

On the wall, in blood, still wet and running down to the floor, was a message.

"Use caution when choosing whom you befriend."

************

Ecks couldn't find anyway out of the hallway. It just kept going until the light couldn't be seen. It was too still.

Then...

"Acaetus... Nimius..."

A voice echoed down the hall. It was raspy, and angry.

Something heavy dropped down, out of sight. Ecks felt the floor shake under the monster's weight... Steps were approaching... Big steps.

Vadim as always was calm and well educated he thought things out first. Vadim stabbed the zombie in the face multiple times, he stood up on the bed and jumped on it multiple times he beat the zombie with its own arm multiple times!

He took a breath. He slowly walked over to the door, he reached out and gently grasped the handle, he slowly started to turn!......it was locked.

"Figures," he said with a sigh as he sat down against the door.

Ecks smiled and pulled out two daggers.

"ECKS SMILES AND PULLS OUT TWO DAGGERS!" the crazed hellfolk screamed.

He took off running down the hall toward the thunderous steps to kill whatever monstrosity was coming his way.

"ECKS RUNS DOWN THE HALL TO KILL THUNDER MONSTERS IN ECKS WAY!!!!"
